Currently, Ms. Johnson is a writer, public speaker and diversity consultant/trainer whose freelance column in the business section of the Kansas City (Mo.) Star called "Diversity Diva" ran from 2008-2016.
Ms. Johnson is a former employment attorney for two Kansas City, Missouri law firms, including one of the largest in the city (Husch Blackwell Sanders LLC), representing companies and organizations in employment litigation, including Hallmark Cards, the Kansas City, MissouriSchool District, Deffenbaugh Industries, DST, Kansas City Power and Light and Interstate Brands Corporation (IBC).
A certified mediator who has practiced law in the states of Missouri and Kansas, Ms. Johnson has performed mediations for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Kansas City, Missouri Human Relations Department and private mediations, and has served by appointment to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights as a member of its Kansas Advisory Committee.
Ms. Johnson is also a former journalist who worked as a newspaper reporter at the Philadelphia Daily News, the Louisville Courier-Journal and the Austin American-Statesman.
